Asbestos/Lead Reports
The
San Diego County Regional Airport Authority provides annual notification
to our employees, tenants and contractors of the presence of Asbestos
Containing Materials (ACMs) and Lead Based Paint (LBP) in Authority
Operated Facilities (AOFs). Various consultants have been retained
by the Airport Authority to provide surveys of ACMs and LBP in our AOFs. The
assessments are conducted annually by the Airport Authority’s certified
asbestos consultant to comply with local, state and federal asbestos
notification requirements.
ACMs generally do not pose a health threat unless the asbestos
fibers are disturbed, become airborne and are inhaled. The job functions
of most employees, tenants and contractors do not require contact
with the ACMs; however, it is important to determine, before work
is conducted in an AOF, if the material contains asbestos. The attached
document identifies where known asbestos materials are located.
In the event that asbestos is identified in your building, it is
important to adhere to the following recommendations:
1. Do not touch or handle ACMs 2. Do not drill, cut or damage ACMs 3. Immediately report any damaged ACM to the appropriate supervisor.
For more information regarding potential health risks, general
procedures and handling restrictions, contact Rick Adcock, San Diego
County Regional Airport Authority, Environmental Affairs Department,
