Working Together to Make San Diego International Airport Quieter
San Diego International Airport (SAN) is committed to being a good neighbor while serving as a vital transportation and economic hub. We work to reduce aircraft noise through monitoring, outreach, and collaboration with airlines and the FAA. Use this page to learn about flight activity, report noise concerns, and get involved in community discussions.
The Airport Authority takes community concerns about aircraft noise seriously and maintains a system for collecting, analyzing, and responding to noise complaints. Your reports help us understand how airport operations affect surrounding communities and inform our noise mitigation efforts.
You can file a noise complaint by calling (619) 400-2799. Please provide details of your noise complaint and we will begin our review.

The interactive Noise Dashboard provides transparent access to aircraft noise data at SAN, with customizable views of noise levels, complaints, and flight operations over time.
SAN uses an advanced system to monitor aircraft operations and community noise levels.
WebTrak lets you view near real-time flight paths, historical data, and recorded noise levels. You can see aircraft altitudes, flight paths, and noise readings—and submit noise complaints directly within the tool.
The Airport Noise Advisory Committee (ANAC) serves as a forum for public input on aircraft noise issues affecting communities surrounding San Diego International Airport. This advisory committee includes representatives from community planning groups, the Airport Authority, the FAA, and airlines.
ANAC meetings are held quarterly and are open to the public. These meetings provide opportunities for community members to voice concerns, receive updates on noise mitigation efforts, and participate in discussions about potential solutions to aircraft noise issues.

San Diego International Airport operates under a nighttime noise curfew that prohibits departures between 11:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. The Curfew Violation Review Panel (CVRP) oversees compliance with this important noise mitigation measure.
The panel reviews potential violations of the curfew, determines whether exemptions apply under specific circumstances (such as medical emergencies or air traffic control delays), and can assess penalties for non-compliant operations. The CVRP’s work helps ensure that the nighttime curfew remains an effective tool for reducing noise impacts during sensitive overnight hours.

The Airport Authority conducts noise studies and produces reports to understand aircraft noise impacts and guide mitigation strategies. Key reports include the Part 150 Study, Quarterly Noise Reports, and community-specific analyses that detail noise exposure, trends, and the effectiveness of abatement efforts.
The Portable Noise Monitoring Program provides short-term noise monitoring at your home or business to supplement data from our 23 permanent monitors. Once you apply via the link below, staff will verify your location meets requirements (secure area with outdoor power outlet), then schedule equipment deployment Monday and retrieval the following Thursday during business hours. Reports posted online within 30 days.

The purpose of the San Diego International Airport’s (SDIA) Fly Quiet Program is to encourage commercial operators to operate as quietly as possible in the San Diego area by acknowledging those operators that attempt to follow the noise abatement goals of the airport. The program creates a participatory atmosphere of the operators working with the airport and community to actively reduce noise by grading an operator’s performance and by making the scores available to the public. The Fly Quiet Program offers a dynamic venue for reviewing noise abatement initiatives by praising and publicizing active participation rather than a system that admonishes violations from essentially voluntary procedures.
Whether you have a specific noise concern, need help understanding flight patterns, or want to learn more about participating in community noise forums, we’re here to help.
