4/13/2022  Traffic Impacts at Terminal 1 on April 14

Allow Plenty of Time for Picking Up and Dropping Off Passnegers

On Thursday, April 14, 2022, from midnight to 4 p.m., two lanes will be closed on Airport Terminal Road at the San Diego International Airport Terminal 1. Two lanes at Terminal 1 and one loading lane will remain open for traveler pick-up and drop-off throughout the construction activities timeframe.

This month, SAN joins the statewide effort to enhance, educate, and activate arts awareness within our community during Arts, Culture & Creativity month, created by the nonprofit organization Californians for the Arts.

San Diego International Airport (SAN) employs more than 7,000 people in the San Diego area. Some of those jobs include positions with the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (Airport Authority), which owns and operates SAN, but most of the jobs are through the airport’s concessionaire partners. Airport concessionaires make up the various food and beverage, gift and news, relaxation, and lounge options inside the airport.

3/30/2022  Lufthansa Begins Nonstop Flights Between Munich and San Diego International Airport

Today, Lufthansa celebrated its first nonstop flight between San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Munich, Bavaria, Germany via Munich Franz Josef Strauss International Airport (MUC). This is the first-ever nonstop service between San Diego and Munich. Currently, flights operate three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays and will grow to five times weekly service in May when Lufthansa adds service on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

In 1987, the National Women’s History Project successfully petitioned Congress to expand the National Women’s History Week through the entire month of March. Since then, women’s accomplishments and contributions are celebrated and recognized every year during March across the United States. 

3/24/2022  San Diego International Airport Offers Tips for Spring Break Travel

Spring has sprung, and construction is in full bloom at San Diego International Airport (SAN) as work continues with the New T1. The New T1 will replace the current outdated Terminal 1 with an attractive, modern, and more efficient facility with up to 30 gates. For people that will be traveling during the next several weeks in celebration of Spring Break, SAN wants to prepare you for current construction impacts and offer travel tips to ensure a safe and seamless journey.

3/9/2022  Spirit Airlines to Add Nonstop Flights Between Oakland and San Diego International Airport

Spirit Airlines has announced they will add nonstop service between Oakland, Calif. via Metropolitan Oakland International Airport (OAK) and San Diego International Airport (SAN) beginning May 25. This is the first new route Spirit Airlines has added at SAN since 2017.
