Alaska Airlines has announced the launch of a new seasonal nonstop service between San Diego International Airport (SAN) and Sun Valley, Idaho via Friedman Memorial Airport (SUN). The airline will operate three times a week — Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday — from December 19, 2025, through March 31, 2026.
“This new seasonal route between San Diego and Sun Valley comes at the perfect time for travelers looking to enjoy some of North America’s premier winter recreation,” said Kimberly Becker, President and CEO of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. “It provides Southern Californians with convenient access to Idaho’s stunning mountain landscapes and world-class skiing, while also offering Sun Valley residents a direct connection to San Diego’s beaches, culture, and sunshine.”
With the addition of Sun Valley, Alaska Airlines now offers nonstop service to 45 destinations from SAN. The carrier connects San Diego with cities across the Northwest, Northeast, California, Florida, Mexico, and all four major Hawaiian islands.
