How will the NASNI ALUCP be prepared?

  • The Navy prepared an Air Installation Compatible Use Zones (AICUZ) study for NASNI. The AICUZ designates off-airport areas of exposure to aircraft-generated noise in 5-decibel increments as well as safety zones near airports where aircraft accidents are most likely to occur based upon nationally aggregated historical data.
  • The ALUC is required by State law to be consistent with the noise and safety compatibility standards of the AICUZ. The ALUC does not have any legal authority to modify the noise contours or safety zones created by the Navy AICUZ.
  • Several community meetings were held to provide opportunities for the public to participate in the ALUCP process. In addition, a working group representing broad community stakeholder interests was formed and coordinate with to help establish draft ALUCP policies.
  • The public will have opportunities to comment on the scope and content of the draft environmental document as well as the draft ALUCP.
