O, Canada, “The Great White North.” Spanning 3.86 million square miles, our neighbor to the north is home to amazing sights, sounds, sports, food, and people. If you’ve ever enjoyed maple syrup, it likely came from Canada as they produce more than half of the world’s supply of it. Canada has some of the best locations to view the Northern Lights depending on the season. And sports, well ice hockey keeps Canadians busy all year long.

On August 9, 2021, the Canadian government opened the border to full-vaccinated travelers. This was great news for those that had been wanting to visit for business or pleasure. With the border opening, San Diego International Airport (SAN) has welcomed back Air Canada with nonstop flights to Vancouver, British Columbia, and a new carrier to SAN, Swoop, will offer nonstop flights to Edmonton, Alberta October 31, 2021, to April 28, 2022.

If you’ve been thinking of making a trip up north and are fully vaccinated, it’s a good idea to do some research before your trip. All travelers must use ArriveCAN (app or web portal) to submit travel information. If you are eligible to enter Canada and meet specific criteria, fully vaccinated travelers will not have to quarantine upon arrival in Canada. All travelers coming into Canada, regardless of vaccine status, will need a negative PCR or molecular test within 72 hours of requesting entry. For more information on Canadian travel requirements please visit, travel.gc.ca/travel-covid.

SAN has an on-site COVID-19 testing option through Carbon Health for travelers wanting to get tested before a trip. Appointments are required and there is a fee for tests. For more information please visit, carbonhealth.com/covid-19-travel-clearance.
