How about a winter weekend getaway?

Fly down the iconic slopes of Jackson Hole, breeze through California’s wineries, swoon over a legendary New Orleans beignet, or fiesta all day every day in Cancún. No matter what type of winter adventure you’re after, you can get to dozens of top destinations from SAN in just 2-3 hours.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming & Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Ski, board, or sled down the powderiest slopes in the west. Duck into a quaint café for a hot apple cider. Or sit by the fire and watch snowflakes fall outside. Both Jackson Hole and Steamboat Springs are packed with options for outdoor adventures, fine dining, and luxurious relaxation. You can get to either destination from SAN on Alaska Airlines in about 2.5 hours.

Santa Barbara & Sacramento, California
Fly in, sip on your favorite Chardonnay, and fly out. Both Santa Barbara and Sacramento are perfect weekend trips from SAN. From these two destinations, it’s just a short drive to some of the best wineries in California. Best of all, you’ll enjoy smaller crowds and lower prices at the wineries during the winter months. Hop on a quick flight from San Diego to Santa Barbara on Alaska Airlines or to Sacramento on Alaska Airlines or Southwest Airlines.

Austin, Texas & New Orleans, Louisiana
We recommend making your long weekend as long as possible and jetting over to hip and trendy Austin or culture-rich New Orleans. If you’re wondering if it’s worth it to fly to Austin for the weekend to try the BBQ, the answer is a 10 out of 10 yes. Speaking of being worthy, if you’ve never been to the real Mardi Gras, you’re in for the experience of a lifetime. Fly to Austin on Alaska Airlines or to The Big Easy on Southwest Airlines in about 3 hours.

Cancún!
We know. Cancún is technically more than 2-3 hours from SAN, but we’ve included it because it’s doable in a long weekend (4 days in Cancún is plenty!) and it’s just so dang fun. It’s impossible to visit Cancún without feeling like you’re actually on vacation, with sunshine, beaches, crystal clear blue water, and margaritas aplenty. Catch a flight to nonstop fun on Alaska Airlines.
