Beginning January 14, 2026, Air Canada and WestJet will relocate their operations from Terminal 2 to the new Terminal 1 at San Diego International Airport (SAN). This means all arrivals and departures for these Canadian airlines will now take place in Terminal 1.
Where to Go in Terminal 1?
- Air Canada and WestJet ticket counters will now be located in the East lobby of the Terminal 1 Ticket Hall
- Air Canada will operate from Gates 116 and 117
- WestJet will use Gate 118
When is the last Day of Operation in Terminal 2?
- WestJet: January 12, 2026
- Air Canada: January 13, 2026
How do I get U.S. Clearance at Terminal 1?
- Passports: All passengers traveling internationally must have a valid passport.
- Departures: Biometric Screening: Passengers traveling internationally from Terminal 1 will use the same Biometric Exit Cameras as Terminal 2.
- Arrivals: Pre-Cleared Canadian Cities: Passengers are pre-cleared for U.S. entry if arriving from Calgary, Toronto, Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Victoria, and Winnipeg. For more details on preclearance, visit the https://www.cbp.gov/travel/preclearance.
Tips for Traveling through Terminal 1:
- Arrive Early: Passengers are encouraged to arrive early and allow time to go through security and biometric screening.
- Check Your Gate: Make sure to head to the correct gate in Terminal 1 for your flight. Once through the security checkpoint and are facing the airfield, turn left to access the Air Canada and WestJet gates.
