Owned and operated by San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, San Diego International Airport is one of the busiest single-runway commercial service airports in the world and the third-busiest airport in California. SAN serves 11 nonstop international routes to Europe, South America and Asia, and contributes nearly $12 billion in economic activity for the San Diego region. In September 2025, the first phase of the new, larger, more efficient Terminal 1 was completed, significantly enhancing the customer experience. Once completed in 2028, it will feature 30 gates and will have generated more than $4.5 billion for San Diego’s economy and created more than 25,000 jobs, paying a total of $2 billion in wages to local workers.

San Diego International Airport continues to deliver strong performance across passenger growth, airline service, and concessions. In FY2025, SAN welcomed 12.65 million travelers and ranked as the third-busiest airport in California. The airport’s concessions program spans 63 units and more than 62,000 square feet, generating over $166 million in food, retail, and specialty sales. Airline capacity remains diverse, led by Southwest, Alaska, United, Delta, and American.
