What Can I Bring?

Common Reminders:

  • Liquids: 3.4 oz (100mL) per item, all in one quart-sized bag
  • Electronics: Laptops must be removed unless you’re using PreCheck
  • Batteries: Lithium batteries must be in carry-on baggage
  • Medications and baby items: Exempt from liquid limits but subject to inspection

REAL ID Requirement

Starting May 7, 2025, you must present a REAL ID–compliant driver’s license or other accepted federal ID to board any U.S. commercial flight.

Other accepted IDs:

  • U.S. passports
  • Military IDs

DHS trusted traveler cards (e.g., Global Entry, NEXUS)

Expedited Security Options at SAN

TSA PreCheck

Save time at the checkpoint with TSA PreCheck. Available in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, TSA PreCheck allows eligible travelers to keep shoes, belts, and light jackets on—and laptops and liquids in their bags.

  • Don’t forget: Add your Known Traveler Number (KTN) to your airline reservation to take advantage of PreCheck benefits.

CLEAR+

Speed through security with biometric screening. CLEAR+ is available at Terminal 2 East from 4:00 AM – 7:30 PM daily. With CLEAR, you can skip the ID check entirely and move directly to physical screening.
