The Quieter Home Program (QHP) is the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority’s (Airport Authority’s) Residential Sound Insulation Program. Over the years, the program has helped insulate homes within certain areas of the airport with new windows, HVAC, doors, and other treatments that reduce noise. The QHP team recently worked on another project for the community, this one in the form of a little library.

In conjunction with the Little Free Library initiative, the QHP staff constructed a house-like storage area for a collection of books. All who visit this Little Library are encouraged to take a book and/or leave a book for someone else to enjoy.

A special thank you to Catherine Darby, QHP Coordinator, who coordinated all the planning efforts, and to Ernie Ramirez, QHP Inspector, for building the library. The project started in late 2019, but with many other things, had to be put on hold during the beginning of the pandemic.

It was very satisfying for the entire team this week to finally see it built, installed, and filled with books that the team donated,” Catherine said. “Our parking lot at Liberty Station is very busy, especially as we share it with a pediatric office. We hope that young readers do take flight with their next book!”

QHP’s Little Free Library is located at 2722 Truxtun Road, San Diego, CA 92106.
