Coastal Cleanup Day with SAN

Monday, September 24, 2018

The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority strives to be a good neighbor to surrounding communities. One way we choose to give back is by hosting two clean-ups a year at Spanish Landing Park — just across the street from us!

This September we celebrated Coastal Cleanup Day by partnering with I Love A Clean San Diego, getting our hands dirty cleaning up the neighborhood.

Over 60 volunteers and Airport Authority staff joined us for a beautiful morning in the park. In just three hours, we were able to remove 235 pounds of debris from the local environment and recycle 114 pounds of it!

Some of the strange things we found? A smashed guitar, a toy rhinoceros, and a beer can boat.

We hope to see you at our next cleanup, Creek to Bay, in April. A special thanks to all of our volunteers who made this clean-up a success!

Our Community Strategy is to be a trusted and highly responsive regional agency.
