Several awards in recent months highlight good things happening at San Diego International Airport (SDIA) and the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.
In October, San Diego International Airport (SAN) has been certified through the Airports Council International’s Airport Carbon Accreditation program. The program creates a framework that helps airports identify, manage, and ultimately reduce their carbon emissions.
In June, SAN has earned a major award for good fiscal stewardship and another for sustainability from the San Diego County Taxpayers Association and San Diego Gas & Electric, respectively. The airport received a Regional Golden Watchdog award from the Taxpayers Association for the new Rental Car Center, which opened in January. The award was presented at the Taxpayer Association’s annual Golden Watchdog and Golden Fleece Awards Dinner on June 16.
Procurement practices at the Airport Authority were honored at the end of October with an Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Procurement Institute. This is the Airport Authority’s sixth consecutive time receiving the award, which recognizes organizational excellence in procurement.
