For decades, artists have been captivated by the region’s unique quality of light. One influential group of artists, the pioneers of the 1960s Southern California Light and Space movement, revolutionized minimalism by using new light-interactive materials like resin, plastics, and neon—materials made readily available by local industries, including aerospace, manufacturing, and industrial design.
These artists created works that were distinctive in their ability to invite viewer interaction, evolving as the surrounding light and environment changed. Mirror Mirror draws inspiration from this legacy, bringing together 16 regional contemporary artists who work with similar principles of light, color, perspective, and materiality.
From interactive LED displays to colorful lightboxes, Mirror Mirror invites you to engage with art that transforms how you see and experience your surroundings, offering reflection and discovery in every interaction.
