Meet Your Community Liaison: Peggy Cooper

You may have seen her walking through the business districts in Point Loma, Mission Hills, Little Italy and the Sports Arena area – Peggy Cooper, Community Relations Specialist for the Airport Authority, can often be spotted chatting with airport neighbors, answering questions and listening to their concerns.

Peggy has been working for the Airport Authority for nearly 11 years and she loves getting out and mingling in the community. Her role is to ensure that the airport is being a good neighbor.

“We appreciate our great partnership with all the communities that surround the airport. It’s important for me to hear our neighbors’ ideas and concerns,” said Peggy. “I share input from the community with Airport Authority leadership and experts – and then I get back to residents with answers to their questions.”

Peggy considers herself the first line of contact with the neighboring communities. “Meeting with the leaders and community groups and visiting with businesses and residents is the best part of my job,” said Peggy.

So, feel free to introduce yourself if you see Peggy having coffee with community leaders at Starbucks in Mission Hills or grabbing a quick bite at Luna Grill in Liberty Station. She is here to serve you!

Peggy serves on the Board of Directors for the USS Midway Museum and the San Diego County Hotel-Motel Association where she volunteers in leadership roles, as well as spends time mentoring teens in the community and keeping them engaged throughout their careers.

She is celebrating 33 years of marriage to her elementary school sweetheart, who recently retired from his career as a U.S. Navy Reservist Senior Chief. Peggy says, “Date nights with your sweetie are key to a lasting marriage.” If you have questions or concerns about the airport, email Peggy Cooper at pcooper@san.org.
