Airport Land Use Compatibility Plans (ALUCPs)

Below are links to proposed draft updates to the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plans (ALUCPs) for the six general aviation airports in the unincorporated County of San Diego. Per State law, the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority (SDCRAA) is required to adopt and update ALUCPs for each public-use and military airport within the county. An ALUCP establishes standards for the consistency of newly proposed land uses within the vicinities of airports, but has no effect on existing residences or businesses. An ALUCP also has no effect upon airport operations or on-airport development. Each of the 6 rural airports has an existing ALUCP adopted by SDCRAA in 2006, and the County of San Diego incorporated each ALUCP into its zoning in 2011. The proposed ALUCP updates reflect revised guidance from Caltrans Aeronautics Division and updated aviation activity forecasts based upon recent operations. The proposed updates will not have additional impacts on properties other than per existing County zoning. It is anticipated that the proposed ALUCP updates will be reviewed by the SDCRAA Board, acting as the Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC), at its April 2022 meeting.

ALUC staff will be holding a public meeting on March 2, 2022. For more information, please reach out to ALUC staff at ALUCPcomments@san.org.
