Concert Series – 2nd Friday of each month 7:00–9:15pm

  • January 8, 2010 – The Gilbert Castellanos New Latin Quartet
    Led by local jazz trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos, this group of performers combines bebop with melodic references influenced by Mexican folklórico to create a unique jazz hybrid.
  • February 12, 2010 – Peter Sprague
    Showcasing over twenty years of jazz experience, Sprague offers a style rooted in Southern California's musical heritage that is appealing to both the casual and the sophisticated listener.
  • March 12, 2010 – Danny Green
    Popular among a lineup of young Southern California jazz artists, Green stays on the pulse of traditional jazz piano while stepping boldly into the future with the use of cultural sounds and world music rhythms.
  • April 9, 2010 – David Patrone
    Patrone’s ensembles are reminiscent of an era’s swanky style, nostalgic but offering something new. This musician adds a modern panache to the musical compositions that brought America through the '30s, '40s, '50s and '60s.
  • May 14, 2010 – Alex Amezcua
    Amezcua delivers soaring, romantic ballads, fusing the passion of Latin music with the stylish billboard hits of his time. A third-generation singer/songwriter from Mexico City, he has performed with many well-known Mexican musicians including the legendary Mariachi Vargas.
  • June 11, 2010 – Joe Marillo
    Affectionately known as San Diego County’s “Godfather of Jazz,” Marillo has played alongside jazz legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Freddy Hubbard and Sonny Rollins. Joe has the unique ability to ease between mainstream, bebop, ballads and funky blues on a variety of instruments.

  • January 22, 2010 – Dave Beldock and Peggy Watson
    Award-winning songwriters Beldock and Watson are two of San Diego’s most established singer-songwriters. The duo is known for their rich, emotion-filled voices, great harmonies, guitar work and humorous stage presence.
  • February 26, 2010 – Ruby Two
    Ruby Presnell’s experience includes commercials and films in addition to live musical performances and studio work. Her performances are a reflection of this combined theatrical ability and satin smooth delivery of blues and jazz.
  • March 26, 2010 – Lisa Campbell
    Blending folk/rock guitar, a wide vocal range and true-to-life lyrics, Campbell’s talents call to mind the popular styles of Jewel, Joni Mitchell and Patti Griffin.
  • April 23, 2010 – Jimmy Patton
    Patton is renowned for his ability to play both melody and accompaniment on two separate guitars simultaneously.  During this session he will perform his own arrangements of popular and jazz tunes, as well as original compositions.
  • May 28, 2010 – Kamau Kenyatta Jazz Trio
    This trio delivers original music, jazz standards and Latin American boleros with a provocative jazz twist. Kenyatta has toured over 20 countries and worked with jazz greats such as Hubert Laws and Patti Austin.
  • June 25, 2010 – BZ Gerber’s Pacific Jazz
    Easily gliding through a variety of styles of music from early jazz to contemporary, BZ and his versatile group of musicians have performed with some of the top groups in Southern California.

  • March 16, 2010 – Ripples on the Water by Eveoke Dance Theatre
    Eveoke is best known for their beautiful and profound theatrical commentary on modern culture. This performance celebrates Women’s History Month by exploring borders and boundaries through the lives and conventional dance forms of women from around the world.
  • May 5, 2010 – Cinco de Mayo Celebration by Ballet Folklórico Toltecatl
    Dancers celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a performance of traditional dances performed in authentic and colorful costumes, representing several regions of Mexico.
  • July 1, 2010 – Independence Day Celebration by the J Company Youth Theatre
    A unique American musical review will be presented by the J Company Youth Theatre in celebration of Independence Day. J Company is recognized as one of San Diego’s leading youth theatre programs in San Diego.
