Lauren Wakham was born and raised in San Diego, California. She is a full-time student
at San Diego State University committed to completing a Bachelor of Science degree
in Public Health. Growing up on a horse ranch in an area rife with environmental
challenges cemented an early interest in the environment and its relationship to
the health of communities. Upon completion of her bachelor’s degree, she plans to
pursue a master’s degree in Environmental Health which will allow her to expand
her knowledge of the relationships between environmental concerns and people. She
hopes to one day excel in a career where she helps others to maintain the highest
standards of environmental stewardship and ensures the health and safety of her
community. Lauren applied to the SDCRAA internship program with the desire to understand
how environmental concerns are managed at the airport to ensure the health and safety
of the community.
Lauren loves spending time with her family, friends and animals. When not studying or working, Lauren enjoys hiking, horseback riding, rugby, gardening, reading and watching her three-year-old daughter experience the world around her.
