Born and raised in Southern California, Brenda never imagined that she would be one of the few Latina women pursuing a degree in Aviation Administration with an Accounting Certificate at California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA). In 2009-2010 Brenda studied at South Dakota State University, where she received her Private Pilots License. Not only is she passionate about aviation but she also enjoys the field of Accounting. She sees herself being a Chief Financial Officer of an Airport or Airline.

Brenda plays a very active role in multiple student organizations at CSULA as well as national organizations such as, American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and most recently the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC). Brenda assists in planning outreach programs for the CSULA student chapter of AAAE, to promote opportunities in aviation for minorities in the Los Angeles area.

The internship in the Small Business Development Department will give her the opportunity to learn about how the Airport Authority operates daily and the relationship to the community of San Diego. This internship is key in opening doors to her career in airport management.
