Land Use Compatibility
Public Outreach Efforts
In November 2005, the Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC) provided direction to staff
to form the Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan Technical Advisory Group (ATAG).
This group was established to allow interested stakeholders to share their input
about Airport Land Use Compatibility Plans (ALUCPs) with staff in a fair, open and
transparent process. The formation of the ATAG enabled the Authority to work with
a broad range of stakeholders to ensure that their issues and interests were considered
during the airport land use compatibility planning process for the rural, Marine
Corps, and urban airport ALUCPs.
The ATAG consisted of more than 50 participants representing a diverse group of stakeholders
including airport operators, pilots, local agencies, the military, community groups,
the business community and property owners. The ATAG process was instrumental
in helping the Airport Authority understand stakeholder issues, thus enabling the
development of comprehensive airport land use compatibility plans.
Since regional issues associated with airport land use planning have been resolved,
the focus will now be on individual airport issues for the few remaining ALUCPs
that require updating. In order to ensure the ALUCP for SDIA is developed with input
of specifically affected stakeholders, the SDIA Steering Committee will be formed
early in the SDIA ALUCP development process. The timeframe for the SDIA Steering
Committee is unknown at this time; please check this website frequently for updated
information as it becomes available.
