The Advisory Committee

The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority Act calls for the Airport Authority to form an advisory committee to assist the Airport Authority Board in its responsibilities related to the planning and development of all airport facilities for the County of San Diego.

The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to serve as a sounding board and catalyst for the development of recommendations to the Airport Authority Board on issues for which the Airport Authority is responsible.

The committee has been established with a membership representing a diverse and engaged constituency. Its wide range of expertise and community credibility provides a well balanced sounding board and catalyst for development of recommendations to the Airport Authority Board. It is of significant importance that the Board is aware of the needs of the committee's constituencies in forming its policies in order for its policies to be widely accepted.

The Airport Authority will be adopting highly contentious airport land use plans for the County Airports and an Airport Master Plan for Lindbergh Field. It is important that the committee is able to become a conduit between the Board and those it represents to ensure the Airport Authority is successful in providing the best possible long-term air transportation solutions for the people of San Diego.

Advisory Committee meetings will be held on a Thursday in each of the months of January, April, July and October of 2007. An agenda for the upcoming meeting will be published prior to the scheduled meeting date. Presentations made at previous meetings can be found in the archive.

All Advisory Committee meetings will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott - San Diego Airport/Liberty Station.

Regional Aviation Strategic Plan Subcommittee

The mission of the Regional Aviation Strategic Plan (RASP) Subcommittee is to work with the Airport Advisory Committee to provide input and feedback on the technical aspects of the RASP and communicate progress to stakeholders. The RASP, mandated by Senate Bill 10, authored by Senator Christine Kehoe and passed in 2007, requires that the Airport Authority, in collaboration with the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), identify workable strategies to improve the performance of the regional airport system in San Diego County. The RASP Subcommittee will meet quarterly and report to the Airport Advisory Committee on its recommendations. You can learn more about RASP here. View a list of committee members here.

Sustainability Subcommittee

The Airport Authority officially adopted a Sustainability Policy approved by the Board in February, 2008, making San Diego International Airport one of the first airports in the nation to formally adopt such a policy. Airport Transit/Roadway Committee

The purpose of the Airport Transit/Roadway Committee is to identify potential enhancements to the transportation system to serve the airport, and advise the Airport Master Plan Technical Committee on potential recommendations and transportation improvements to respective boards with the following goals:

• Meet regularly (or as needed) to discuss both transit and road access to San Diego International Airport
• Explore and increase opportunities for enhanced transit access to the airport and surrounding environs
• Share information and data regarding the respective organizations' jurisdiction and expertise
  • Transit - Route information, ridership data, planned facilities
  • Road/Freeway - Forecast model data
• Provide input to Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) prepared by SANDAG and Airport Authority
• Cooperatively present issues and recommendations to respective boards

Airport Art Advisory Committee

The Airport Art Advisory Committee provides expertise and advice to the Executive Director on matters relating to the consideration and recommendation on artist selection, borrowing and/or lending of art, deaccessioning of public artwork and temporary and rotating exhibits.
