30 Days of Blue

30 Days of Blue

From August 16 to September 14, 2008, San Diego International Airport (SDIA) celebrated its 80th Anniversary with 30 Days of Blue – 30 days of special, interactive events for the public – all focused on the airport’s role in the region and its commitment to sustainability. This site features a “Green Tip” regarding something you can do to be more sustainable, as well as a look at something we’re doing at SDIA to be a more sustainable airport.

Buy food packaged in paper, glass, aluminum or steel as often say you can. All these containers are readily recyclable. Avoid plastic: only 3.9% of all post-consumer plastic is being recycled today, and plastics as a percentage of the waste stream is rapidly growing.

The Airport Authority has received a California Award for Performance Excellence in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. The award is based on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria — acknowledged internationally as the hallmark for performance excellence.
