Airport Noise Advisory Committee (ANAC)

The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority recognizes that neighborhoods surrounding San Diego International Airport are affected by noise from aircraft operations. An Airport Noise Advisory Committee (Committee), consisting of individuals from various organizations, residential areas, and professional associations, was formed in 1981 under the San Diego Unified Port District, previous operator of San Diego International Airport.

The Committee — composed of 14 voting members — provides a forum for collaborative discussion of airport noise issues and other related matters. Committee members represent the following agencies, industries, or interested groups:

• Commercial Airline Pilot
• Acoustician
• Military
• Federal Aviation Administration
• Greater Golden Hill Planning Board
• Little Italy Association
• Midway Community Plan Advisory Committee
• Ocean Beach Planning Board
• Peninsula Community Planning Board
• Uptown Planners
• City of San Diego
• County of San Diego
• Air Carrier Representative
• At-large Community Member

The United States Congress, 53rd District Representative, or appointee, County of San Diego, District One Supervisor, or appointee, and City of San Diego, District Two Council member, or appointee, shall serve as ex-officio (nonvoting) members of the Committee.

The Director, Airport Noise Mitigation, provides primary airport staff support for the Committee.

The Committee makes recommendations to the Airport Authority Board regarding:

• The Residential Sound Attenuation Program (Quieter Home)
• F.A.R. Part 150 — Airport Noise & Land Use Compatibility Program
• Airport Noise Monitoring and Mitigation Efforts
• Community Outreach Programs
• Other Airport Noise-Related Issues

Airport Noise Advisory Committee (ANAC) Meetings

ANAC holds its meeting on a bi-monthly basis, tentatively set for the 3rd Thursday of the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November. The meetings are held to discuss various relevant airport noise issues. An agenda for the upcoming meeting will be published approximately five days before the scheduled meeting date.
